This policy covers what happens to the details you give us when you enquire about a treatment, including that we pass them to a clinic. It sits alongside the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Who we are
Alma Lasers Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 40 633 537 854, of G05 241A O'Riordan Street, Mascot NSW 2020. We supply medical and aesthetic devices to clinics in Australia. We are not a clinic and we do not provide treatment.
What we collect
When you complete an enquiry form we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number and email address
- Your postcode
- Anything you choose to write in the optional message box
We also record the date of your enquiry and, where it came from an advertisement, which campaign it came from.
Health information
An enquiry about a treatment says something about your health, or about your interest in a health service. Under the Privacy Act that is sensitive information, which carries higher protection than ordinary personal information. Anything you write in the message box may also be sensitive information.
We collect it only with your consent, which you give by submitting the form, and only to do the one thing described below. Please do not include more detail than you need to.
Why we collect it, and who we give it to
We use your details for a single purpose: to refer your enquiry to one participating clinic near you, so that clinic can contact you about a consultation.
- We choose the clinic based on your postcode and what you have told us
- We pass your details to that one clinic only
- We do not sell your details, and we do not provide them to any other clinic, advertiser or data broker
- Once a clinic has your details, that clinic is responsible for how it handles them, under its own privacy obligations
We also use service providers who help us operate, such as our website hosting and email delivery providers. They handle your details only to provide those services to us.
Where your information is held
Our systems run on cloud infrastructure, and some of our service providers store or process data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to require them to protect your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records while they are needed for the referral, and as our record of what we referred and to whom. We remove them when they are no longer needed for that purpose, or sooner if you ask.
Marketing
Enquiring does not sign you up to marketing. If we want to send you anything beyond your referral we will ask you separately, and you can opt out at any time.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, contact us first and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
